Anti-AFK systems explained

Many Minecraft servers kick players who are idle for too long. This page explains how these anti-AFK systems work and how MinecraftAfkBots can help you stay online.

How Anti-AFK Detection Works

Servers use various methods to detect whether a player is actually playing or just sitting idle:

  • Idle timer -- The most basic check. If a player sends no input for a set time (often 15-30 minutes), they get kicked.
  • Movement detection -- The server checks if the player's position changes. Standing still triggers a kick.
  • Rotation detection -- Some servers also check if the player's head rotation changes.
  • Action detection -- Advanced servers check for block breaking, placing, inventory interaction, or chat messages.
  • Pattern detection -- Sophisticated plugins detect repetitive movement patterns (e.g. walking in a perfect circle).

How MinecraftAfkBots Handles This

MinecraftAfkBots includes built-in anti-AFK features that simulate realistic player behavior:

  • Randomized movement -- The bot moves in random, non-repeating patterns
  • Head rotation -- Occasional random head and body rotations
  • Swing arm -- Periodic arm-swing packets to simulate activity
  • Sneak toggle -- Random crouch and uncrouch actions
  • Jump -- Occasional jump inputs

Tip:You can enable or disable individual anti-AFK actions in the bot settings. For most servers, enabling movement and rotation is sufficient.

Using Macros for Advanced Anti-AFK

For servers with particularly aggressive anti-AFK plugins, you can use macros to create custom behavior loops. For example, you can set up a macro that walks forward for 5 seconds, turns right, walks again, and breaks a block -- all on a repeating timer.

AFK Pools and Water Streams

Some players build AFK pools (a small water loop that pushes the player in a circle) on their server. While these work in vanilla Minecraft, MinecraftAfkBots's built-in anti-AFK actions are more reliable because they don't require any in-game construction and work on any server.

Warning:Always check the server rules before using AFK bots. Some servers explicitly prohibit the use of bots or automated tools. Using MinecraftAfkBots on such servers may result in a ban.
