How to set up a proxy
Proxies allow you to connect multiple accounts to servers that limit how many players can join from a single IP address. This guide walks you through adding and using proxies in MinecraftAfkBots.
Before You Start
Make sure you understand what a proxy is and why you might need one. In short, a proxy gives your bot a different IP address so the server sees it as connecting from a different location.
What Type of Proxy to Buy
- SOCKS5 -- This is the recommended type. SOCKS5 proxies work best for game traffic.
- HTTP / HTTPS -- Not recommended. These are designed for web browsing and usually do not work reliably for Minecraft connections.
- Residential vs. Datacenter -- Datacenter proxies are cheaper and faster. Residential proxies are harder for servers to detect but cost more and can be slower.
Tip:We recommend private datacenter SOCKS5 proxies. Shared proxies are cheaper but the IP might already be banned on popular servers.
Adding a Proxy to MinecraftAfkBots
Get your proxy credentials
After purchasing a proxy, you will receive a host, port, and optionally a username and password. The format is usually: host:port:username:password
Open proxy settings
In the MinecraftAfkBots dashboard, navigate to your bot's connection settings and find the proxy configuration section.
Enter proxy details
Fill in the proxy host, port, and authentication credentials. Select SOCKS5 as the proxy type.
Assign to a bot
Select which bot instance should use this proxy. Each bot can have its own proxy, or multiple bots can share one (within the server's IP limit).
Test the connection
Start the bot and verify it connects successfully. Check the connection logs for any proxy-related errors.
Common Proxy Issues
- Connection refused -- Double check the host, port, and credentials. Make sure the proxy is active and not expired.
- Authentication failed -- Verify the username and password are correct. Some proxies use IP authentication instead of user/pass.
- Kicked immediately -- The proxy IP might be banned on that server. Try a different proxy.
- High latency -- Choose a proxy server closer to the Minecraft server's location.
Warning:Free proxies found online are almost always unreliable, slow, and potentially unsafe. We strongly recommend using paid, private proxies.
