VPN blocks
Some Minecraft servers block connections from VPN and datacenter IP addresses. Since MinecraftAfkBots connects from datacenter infrastructure, your bot may be affected by these blocks on certain servers.
How VPN blocks work
Servers use anti-VPN plugins that check incoming connections against databases of known datacenter and VPN IP ranges. If your IP matches, the connection is rejected before you can join.
There are two types of blocks:
- Full block - The server completely prevents connections from detected datacenter or VPN IPs. You cannot join at all.
- Partial block - The server may allow the connection but place restrictions on the account, such as limiting certain features or flagging it for review.
How to bypass VPN blocks
The most reliable way to bypass VPN blocks is to use a high-quality proxy that is not in the server's block list:
- ISP proxies - These use IP addresses from Internet Service Providers rather than datacenters. They are harder for anti-VPN plugins to detect because they look like regular home connections.
- Residential proxies - While these can bypass blocks, they often have higher latency and connection stability issues. We generally do not recommend them for Minecraft connections.
- Private datacenter proxies - Some private datacenter proxies are clean (not in block lists). These are cheaper than ISP proxies and work well if the IP is not flagged.
Note:VPN block bypass is available on the Custom plan. If you are on the Starter or Pro plan and need to bypass VPN blocks, consider upgrading or using your own clean proxy.
Troubleshooting
If your bot is being blocked:
- Check if the server actually has anti-VPN enabled. Try connecting with a regular Minecraft client from your home network first.
- Try a different proxy. Some IPs may be flagged while others from the same provider are clean.
- Use a SOCKS5 proxy specifically. HTTP proxies will not work for Minecraft connections.
- Make sure the proxy is actually working by testing it with another service first.
