Microsoft authentication
Since Mojang migrated all Minecraft accounts to Microsoft, you need to authenticate through Microsoft to use your Minecraft account with MinecraftAfkBots. This guide explains how the process works.
How authentication works
MinecraftAfkBots uses the official Microsoft OAuth flow to authenticate your account. This is the same process used by the official Minecraft launcher. Your credentials are sent directly to Microsoft and are never stored by MinecraftAfkBots.
After authentication, MinecraftAfkBots receives a token that allows your bot to connect to Minecraft servers as your account. This token expires periodically and may need to be refreshed.
Linking your account
Click Add Account
In the dashboard, click the "Add Account" button to start the authentication flow.
Sign in with Microsoft
A Microsoft login window will open. Sign in with the Microsoft account that owns your Minecraft Java Edition license.
Authorize MinecraftAfkBots
Review the permissions and click "Accept". MinecraftAfkBots only requests the minimum permissions needed to authenticate your Minecraft profile.
Account added
Your Minecraft username will appear in the dashboard. You can now configure it and connect to servers.
Note:MinecraftAfkBots never sees or stores your Microsoft password. Authentication is handled entirely by Microsoft's OAuth system.
Token expiration
Microsoft authentication tokens expire after a period of time. When this happens, your bot will disconnect and you will need to re-authenticate. MinecraftAfkBots will show a notification when your token needs refreshing.
To re-authenticate, simply click the refresh button next to the account in your dashboard and sign in with Microsoft again.
Warning:If you change your Microsoft account password, all existing tokens are invalidated immediately. You will need to re-authenticate all linked Minecraft accounts.
Troubleshooting
- Login window does not appear - Check if your browser is blocking pop-ups and allow them for MinecraftAfkBots.
- "Account does not own Minecraft" - Make sure you are signing in with the Microsoft account that has a Minecraft Java Edition license.
- Authentication keeps failing - Clear your browser cookies, try an incognito window, or use a different browser.
Tip:For best security, enable two-factor authentication on both your MinecraftAfkBots account and your Microsoft account.
