Connecting to any server
MinecraftAfkBots works with virtually any Minecraft Java Edition server. This guide covers the general process for connecting to any server, including tips for servers not covered in our specific guides.
Step-by-step connection
Find the server address
Every Minecraft server has an address (like play.example.com). Check the server's website, server listing, or community pages for the correct address.
Check the Minecraft version
Most servers specify which Minecraft version they support. Note this version. MinecraftAfkBots auto-detects in most cases, but knowing the correct version helps if you need to set it manually.
Authenticate your account
Make sure your Minecraft account is authenticated through Microsoft in the MinecraftAfkBots dashboard.
Configure the connection
Enter the server address in your account settings. If the server uses a non-standard port (anything other than 25565), include it after a colon: play.example.com:12345
Connect
Click connect. Your bot will attempt to join the server. Watch the status and chat for any connection messages.
Server types and compatibility
| Server Type | Compatibility |
|---|---|
| Vanilla | Fully compatible |
| Spigot / Paper | Fully compatible |
| BungeeCord / Velocity | Fully compatible |
| Fabric (vanilla-compatible) | Usually compatible |
| Forge (modded) | May not work |
| Bedrock Edition | Not supported |
Servers with registration
Some servers (especially cracked or semi-premium servers) require in-game registration with a command like /register password password or /login password. You can automate this using a macro that runs the login command on connect.
Servers with anti-bot protection
Some servers actively block headless clients or bots. Signs of anti-bot protection include:
- Being kicked immediately after joining
- Being sent to a verification lobby or captcha
- Kick messages mentioning "bot protection"
In these cases, a residential proxy may help, but some servers are designed to block all bot connections.
Warning:Always check the server's rules before using bots. Some servers explicitly prohibit bot connections and may ban your account.
Recommended settings for any server
- Enable anti-AFK with randomized intervals (20-60 seconds)
- Enable auto reconnect with a 15-30 second delay
- Use proxies if running multiple accounts on the same server
Note:If your server is not listed in our specific guides, this general process works for the vast majority of Java Edition servers. If you run into issues, see connection troubleshooting.
Tip:Before setting up macros and proxies, test with a simple connection first. Once connected successfully, layer on additional features one at a time.
