High latency / lag

High latency (or lag) means there is a delay between MinecraftAfkBots sending data and the Minecraft server receiving it. This can cause delayed chat messages, slow movement, or connection timeouts.

What causes high latency?

  • Geographic distance - MinecraftAfkBots servers may be located far from the Minecraft server. The greater the physical distance, the higher the latency.
  • Proxy routing - Using a proxy adds an extra hop. If the proxy server is in a different region, it increases round-trip time.
  • Server overload - If the Minecraft server is under heavy load, it may respond slowly to all players.
  • Proxy quality - Free or low-quality proxies often have high latency and packet loss.

How to reduce latency

Choose a closer proxy

If you are using a proxy, select one that is geographically close to the Minecraft server. For example, if the server is hosted in Europe, use a European proxy.

Remove the proxy

If you do not need a proxy (single account, no IP restrictions), remove it. A direct connection will always have lower latency than one routed through a proxy.

Use SOCKS5 proxies

SOCKS5 proxies are faster and more reliable than HTTP proxies for game connections. Always use SOCKS5 when possible.

Upgrade your proxy

Free proxies are unreliable and often overloaded. Paid private datacenter proxies offer significantly better performance and consistency.

Does latency affect AFK?

For most AFK tasks, latency does not matter. Your bot stays connected regardless of ping. High latency only becomes an issue if the server has a very strict timeout (usually under 30 seconds), in which case the bot might be disconnected.

Note:MinecraftAfkBots shows your bot's current ping in the dashboard. If the ping is consistently above 500ms, consider switching proxies or removing the proxy entirely.

Tip:For time-sensitive tasks like responding to chat messages or executing timed macros, lower latency provides better results. For simple AFK, even 200-300ms of latency is perfectly fine.
